Experience

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE)
Assistant Professor, 07/1997-06/2003
Associate Professor, 07/2003- present

Establish and direct the Advanced Materials and Smart Structures Laboratories (AMSL) in MAE.  Up to now three labs have been established. Research in the AMSL:Fabrication and AMSL:Diagnostics involves multiscale design, finite element and analytical modeling, experimental mechanics, non-destructive diagnostics, and failure/damage tolerance characterization of anisotropic and heterogeneous material systems and structures. Applications include fiber reinforced polymer composites (laminates and random fibers), aluminosilicate (geopolymer) composite sandwich structures, and thin film structures.

Our newest facility is the Tissue Characterization and Modeling Laboratory in which research project on ultrasonic diagnostics for breast cancer, tibial plateau fractures and modeling and characterization of soft tissues are being performed.
